Parish Council Virtual Meeting Preview for April 20, 2020

Council Meeting PreviewThe St. Charles Parish Council will hold a virtual meeting beginning at 6:00 p.m. April 20, 2020.  The meeting may be viewed live on Cox Cable Channel 6, AT&T U-Verse Channel 99, or SCP-TV. 

This notification is to certify that on April 20, 2020 at 6:00 pm, the St. Charles Parish Council meeting will be held via teleconference/video conference in accordance with Governor John Bel Edwards’ Executive Proclamation Number JBE 2020-30 dated March 16, 2020 and Executive Proclamation Number JBE 2020-41 dated April 2, 2020.  In accordance with Section 4 of Executive Proclamation Number JBE 2020-30 and Section 4(E) of Executive Proclamation Number JBE 2020-41, the St. Charles Parish Council certifies that it is unable to meet the quorum requirements for an in person public meeting.  Accordingly, the April 20, 2020 St. Charles Parish Council meeting will be held by conducting a telephone/video conference meeting as authorized by Executive Department Proclamations JBE 2020-30 and JBE 2020-41, and as further confirmed by Attorney General Jeff Landry on March 19, 2020.  The inability to meet the in person requirements in a public meeting is due to the restrictions in place in response to the COVID-19 virus pandemic, and to ensure compliance with Executive Proclamations JBE 2020-30 and JBE 2020-41.

Public comments will be accepted until 4:00 pm the day of the meeting by:

Public comments will also be accepted real time.  Join the meeting by dialing 1-888-788-0099 (Toll Free).  When prompted, key the Meeting ID: 988 5787 2812 followed by the # key.  When prompted to enter Participant ID, dial # (no Participant ID needed).  Once on the line, should you wish to speak when public comment has been opened, dial  * 9  on your phone.  Public comments will be taken in the order received.  Listen for the prompt that your line has been unmuted - please state your name and address for the record.  You will have 3 minutes to speak.

Items on the agenda for public comment include but are not limited to:

  • A resolution confirming an election date change pursuant to proclamation of the Governor; establishing a new date to canvass the returns of the election (911 renewal, Road Lighting renewal, Library continuation); and providing for other matters in connection therewith.
  •  A resolution in support of construction services guidelines for Pecan Bayou Subdivision, Parish Project No. P191101.

  • A resolution endorsing a waiver from the Subdivision Regulations of 1981, Section III. Geometric Standards, B. Blocks, 3. Arrangement as requested by Perry J. Lauve.
  • A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a review of the Canadian National Railroad Crossing and area on East Harding Street, New Sarpy, for a recommendation to determine the feasibility of adding gates at the existing crossing and further request the installation of gates if review determines gates are warranted.
  • A resolution requesting the Louisiana Department of Transportation & Development perform a traffic study to determine the feasibility of the installation of a signal light at the intersection of Airline Highway (LA 61) and East Harding Street, New Sarpy and further request the installation of a signal light if study determines light is warranted.

 

The council will also hear a report from the Parish President.
