St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell, Council Members and Parish Officials broke ground today, Tuesday, February 28, on a project to eliminate a hydraulic bottleneck near Destrehan Pump Station No. 2, marking an important milestone for drainage improvements in the Destrehan area.
"I'm excited to break ground on this project that will eliminate a bottleneck in this conveyance system. It will complement the Destrehan Pump Station No. 2 project and the railroad jack and bore project that we hope to have underway by the end of the year," President Matthew Jewell said.
The elimination of this hydraulic bottleneck aligns with the Master Drainage Plan and is outlined as part of the work on the Dunleith Canal. This project is designed to improve the conveyance of stormwater by eliminating the bottleneck near Destrehan Pump Station No. 2.
Cycle Construction Company, LLC, was awarded the project with a bid of $2,264,960.
