ST. CHARLES PARISH CELEBRATES GROUNDBREAKING OF EAST BANK BRIDGE PARK RENOVATIONS

Post Date:November 05, 2024 12:17 PM

St. Charles Parish officials celebrated the commencement of construction on the East Bank Bridge Park Revitalization project on Monday, November 4, 2024.

"Our East and West Bank Bridge Parks are flagship parks in St. Charles Parish, so it’s really exciting that by the middle of 2025, we’ll have world-class facilities on both sides of the river for residents to enjoy,” President Matthew Jewell said. “This improvement is possible through a combination of public and private funding through a generous donation for the turf infields from Valero St. Charles, as well as state and local tax dollars.”

The East Bank Bridge Park Improvements will include the construction of new synthetic turf infields on both fields at the park, fresh grass outfields with an irrigation system and updates to fencing, backstops and dugouts. The department also will install new light poles and LED fixtures at the tennis courts, Field 1 and Field 2. There will also be two new tennis courts, two pickleball courts, a batting cage, and a basketball court added to the park.

"The East Bank Bridge Park is a cherished and frequently used park in our parish. This capital investment demonstrates the parish's dedication to continually pursuing improvements that enhance the quality of life for our residents" Director Duane Foret said. "I am thrilled for our residents to enjoy another significant enhancement to one of our parks and eagerly anticipate the new state-of-the-art upgrades."

Valero St. Charles generously donated $500,000 for the new turf fields. The Louisiana Department of the Treasury allocated $750,000 to the project, and the remainder of the project's cost will come from Parish funds. The total project cost is $3,693,000. Jones Construction Solutions, LLC is the contractor for the project designed by Civil and Environmental Consulting Engineers of Luling.

Construction is expected to be complete at the end of April 2025.
