On Monday, January 20, 2025, at 6:00 p.m., St. Charles Parish will open a warming shelter at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, located at 274 Edward Dufresne Parkway, Luling, LA 70070. Residents needing a warm place to stay should arrive no later than 11 p.m. If no one arrives by midnight, the shelter may close. The shelter is only for St. Charles Parish residents; IDs will be required.
Cots will be available, and the Red Cross is providing limited pillows and blankets. Residents should bring additional blankets, snacks and water. Additionally, no weapons or other contraband will be allowed in the shelter.
Residents coming to the shelter should plan to bring their pets with them. Bring all food, bowls, medications and a kennel for your pet to sleep in.
The shelter will close once temperatures rise above freezing.
