Post Date:June 24, 2025 10:22 AM

The St. Charles Parish Department of Parks and Recreation is proud to accept a generous $250,000 donation from Valero to support major upgrades at New Sarpy Park, located at 762 ES Johnson St. The contribution was formally presented during a check presentation ceremony, marking the official start of the park's revitalization.

The planned improvements will include a new playground set, upgraded fencing, a new backstop, and an upgraded pavilion over the basketball court. Preliminary design work is currently underway, with construction scheduled to begin in early 2026 and anticipated completion later that year.

“We appreciate Valero’s continued investment in our community and their generous contribution toward the renovation of New Sarpy Park,” said St. Charles Parish President Matthew Jewell. “This project will breathe new life into one of our community’s longstanding parks, and I am excited for this community to enjoy the updated space.”

Valero’s commitment to enhancing local recreation opportunities is a reflection of their dedication to the well-being of St. Charles Parish. In addition to Valero’s $250,000 contribution, the Department of Parks and Recreation is matching the investment with an additional $250,000, bringing the total project funding to $500,000.

“Partnerships like this are essential to helping us enhance the quality of life for our residents,” said St. Charles Parish Parks and Recreation Director Duane Foret. “Valero’s support allows us to move forward with improvements that will benefit families in New Sarpy for generations to come. We’re excited to bring this upgraded park to life and provide a space the community can be proud of.”
