The SHIELD Plan Draft is now available for public review and comment on the St. Charles Parish website. The plan's purpose is to maximize the parish's ability to advance its coastal restoration efforts and set the stage for the inclusion of parish projects in the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority’s (CPRA) future Louisiana Comprehensive Master Plan for a Sustainable Coast (Coastal Master Plan).
Specifically, the SHIELD plan objectives are as follows:
- Identify St. Charles Parish priority coastal projects that address ecological restoration needs and improve community resilience
- Develop planning-level information for each Priority Project
- Identify and describe large-scale and programmatic opportunities
- Identify existing programs and sources for project funding
Residents can review and comment on this plan from July 11 until July 25, 2025. The plan is viewable online at www.stcharlesparish.gov/shieldplan. Public comments must be submitted via email to scpcomments@royal.us.
