St. Charles Parish Reduces Cost of Commemorative Bricks at Veterans Memorial Plaza to Celebrate America’s 250th Birthday

Post Date:February 09, 2026 1:00 PM

In celebration of America’s 250th Birthday in 2026, St. Charles Parish is reducing the cost of commemorative bricks at the Veterans Memorial Plaza from $150 to $50 for the calendar year. The reduced price is part of a parishwide effort to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces while commemorating this milestone in our nation’s history.

“This anniversary is a great opportunity for us to reflect on the sacrifices made by veterans from our community who fought to protect our freedom,” Parish President Matthew Jewell said. “We want to get as many of our veterans recognized in our plaza, so by reducing the cost of bricks, we hope more families will take part in honoring loved ones who have given so much for our country.”

Located next to the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, 274 Judge Edward Dufresne Parkway in Luling, The St. Charles Parish Veterans Memorial Plaza opened in 2023 as a community gathering place to honor the men and women who have served our nation. The plaza contains monuments for each branch of the United States Military, a POW/MIA monument, a Purple Heart monument, and a Gold Star Families Memorial Monument, the second in the state of Louisiana.

Bricks may be purchased by a veteran or in memory of a veteran. Order forms for commemorative bricks can be found online at www.stcharlesparish.gov/bricks. We ask that proof of service be provided with the order form as either a copy of the DD214 or a photograph, along with the check payment. Payments should be made to the United Way of St. Charles and mailed or delivered to their office at 13207 River Road, Luling, LA 70070, along with the brick order form.
