St. Charles Parish residents are encouraged to take advantage of an upcoming low-cost rabies vaccination opportunity hosted by the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter. The annual event will offer affordable rabies vaccinations for dogs and cats over three months old or weighing three pounds or more.  

The event will take place on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the East Bank Bridge Park (13244 River Road, Destrehan) and West Bank Bridge Park (13825 River Road, Luling).  

Rabies vaccinations will be available for $10 per animal. A valid ID is required as proof of St. Charles Parish residency. For the safety of all pets and people, dogs must be properly leashed or placed in a carrier, and cats must be placed in a carrier. Cash will be the only form of payment accepted. 

The St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter reminds residents that while rabies vaccinations are essential, routine veterinary care is also important to keeping pets healthy. Pet owners are encouraged to maintain annual wellness exams, stay current with recommended vaccines, and use a licensed veterinarian for heartworm, flea, and tick prevention.
