ST. CHARLES PARISH BREAKS GROUND ON SAND VOLLEYBALL COURTS

Post Date:April 07, 2026 2:32 PM

St. Charles Parish officials gathered yesterday to celebrate the groundbreaking of a new sand volleyball court project at the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center. The project will include the construction of four sand volleyball courts, along with fencing and lighting to support both daytime and evening play.

“This project is another great step forward in expanding recreational opportunities for our residents,” said Parish President Matthew Jewell. “By continuing to invest in our facilities, we are creating spaces that bring people together, promote active lifestyles, and enhance the overall quality of life in St. Charles Parish.”

The addition of sand volleyball courts is part of the department’s ongoing master plan for the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center, aimed at increasing programming opportunities for both youth and adults while allowing room for future growth.

“This is an exciting addition to our park system and a key part of our long-term vision for the Edward A. Dufresne Community Center,” said Parks and Recreation Director Duane Foret. “These courts will give us the ability to expand programming, host events, and provide another outlet for residents to stay active and engaged.”

Centric Gulf Coast was awarded the project with a bid of $660,000, fully funded by the Department of Parks and Recreation. Construction is expected to begin in April, with completion anticipated by mid-August 2026.
