Aerial spraying in response to mosquito activity and preparation for July 4th celebrations are scheduled to take place on the West and East Bank of St. Charles Parish. The aerial application will occur Saturday evening, June 27th, 2026 at approximately 8:00 pm and continue until about 12:00 am over the areas of Hahnville, Luling, Red Church and Destrehan. The aerial application will be completed in one evening. If there is an unforeseen delay, applications may begin the next suitable night.
Vector Disease Control International (VDCI), a mosquito control service company, will be using twin-engine aircraft flying at an altitude of approximately 300 feet to conduct the aerial application. Each aircraft is equipped with an aerial spray guidance system specifically engineered for mosquito control operations. VDCI will be applying a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved mosquito control product labeled for use in residential areas municipalities, and agricultural areas. The planes are able to receive in real-time, meteorological conditions such as temperature, wind speed and wind direction to determine the offset of the application. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires notification to the public when aerial spray operations are to occur.
