About Community Services

The Department of Community Services provides various programs from emergency assistance to neighborhood-based initiatives to assist all parish residents. Through a partnership with the Louisiana Association of Community Action Programs, the Department of Community Services operates social action programs.

These programs include assisting the community's poor and vulnerable populations, providing self-development opportunities, spearheading housing improvements, providing educational and social services support. Programs for adult and youth take place at the four parish community centers, and these programs include Lunch and Learn, life skills, adult enrichment programs, after school tutoring and youth symposiums.

The Boutte Community Outreach Program is a neighborhood drop-in center providing community-based services for at-risk youth. Programs include an after school activity center, computer lab, summer enrichment program and specialized programs for citizens of St. Charles Parish, from toddlers to seniors.
