About
The Flood Aware Committee was formed in 2017 to compile a plan for public information that informs residents of local flood risks and promotes flood insurance coverage. The plan will be submitted to the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) for the Community Rating System. Under this system, St. Charles Parish is currently rated an eight. More information on the CRS.
The Flood Aware committee is led by the Public Information Office and the parish’s coastal zone management team and includes stakeholders from the local chamber of commerce, industry, real estate, banks and nonprofits who meet quarterly.
