Administration works to keep the operation going and makes everything run smoothly by providing support to all aspects of the Public Works department.

Automation Control and Telemetry works to provide a remote eye on pump stations, drainage canals and sewer lift stations throughout the Parish by developing, building and installing systems that allow for crucial services to be controlled remotely.

Contract Monitoring oversees all works relating to contracts, including street lighting, garbage pick-up and debris removal.

Drainage Operations and Maintenance protect the Parish during heavy rains and large storm events. It consists of three sections:

1. Pump operators and helpers who operate pump stations and make sure all the mechanical components are in working order and perform routine maintenance when needed.

2. Drainage and construction crews are responsible for dredging large canals and ditches, clearing conveyances of debris and vegetation, installing large pipes and operating equipment needed to pull pumps and assist in other drainage projects.

3. Electricians ensure all electrical components on the pump stations work and that backup power sources are connected in case of an emergency.

East and West Bank Yards maintenance crews are the workers in the neighborhood working on the streets. These crews work on debris removal, ditch cleaning, ditch maintenance, roadway repairs, driveway culverts, sidewalk replacements, curb replacements, catch basin cleaning, culvert cleaning and more. It is the largest division of Public Works,and it processes all Council requests, citizen requests, quality assurance work orders and self-generated work orders.

The Environmental MS4 staff is responsible for keeping the Parish safe from potential environmental hazards, such as spills in our waterways, ground contamination and air releases.

Engineering serves as the technical support for all internal Public Works projects, including design and construction. It also ensures all designs done by outside firms are correct and to the Parish's specifications. Engineering manages drainage permits and are instrumental in reviewing and approving new subdivisions.

Grass cutters are responsible for cutting every ditch and right of way throughout the Parish. They also cut grass along streets and in unseen areas. When needed, they also help with storm preparation and flood fighting.

The Quality Assurance team looks at work orders and citizen requests to ensure the right job is done. They go in the field to scope out the project to provide information to the crews, and once the job is completed, quality assurance looks at it to certify the job was done correctly by performing pre- and post-checks.
